Songwriters: “Just Another Day” Can Change Your Life

On Any Given Day You Can Create A Magical Song…

One of the things I love about songwriting is that I can go into work on any given day and come out with a hit song that makes hundreds of thousands of dollars. You never know when those days are going to happen. It was just another day when Jason Matthews and I wrote “Must Be Doin’ Somethin’ Right”. Just another day when Johnny Reid, Alan Frew and I wrote “Fire It Up” that would become a #1 for Johnny and for Joe Cocker. Just another day when Jim Collins said “Let’s write a reggae song” and we wrote “Everybody Wants To Go To Heaven.”

I have seen it and it is possible!

Now that I have seen that it can happen, it is easier to believe that it might happen on ANY given day. I go into my co-writes excited and hopeful that today might be THE day when it happens again. I’m finding that this hopeful expectation improves my writing. I set the bar high for my work. This song could be a big hit for someone, after all. They might be singing this song for 20 years on stage! I want my song to be GREAT and worthy of that. Even if you have not experienced going in on just another day and writing a life changing song,

Expect magic each time you write…
