Every year around this time, we (Marty & Clay) slow down just long enough to take stock of the journey we’re on—this wild, unpredictable, often beautifully messy path called songwriting. And every year, we’re reminded of the same truth:

There is so much to be thankful for.

In a world that moves fast and demands more from us every day, Thanksgiving gives us the rare gift of pause—a moment to recognize the things that keep us grounded, inspired, and connected. So from our SongTown family to yours, here’s what we’re feeling especially grateful for this season.

🎶 We’re Thankful for the Blank Page

There’s something magical about a blank page. It holds promise, potential, and the spark of a song that could change someone’s day—or even their life.

Some days that page is intimidating. Other days it feels like a best friend. But every day, it’s an opportunity. And we’re thankful that, no matter how many songs we’ve written, the muse keeps showing up to meet us there.

It’s easy to be thankful for the wins. The cuts.
The moments when everything clicks and you walk out of a co-write knowing you’ve got something special.

But we’re also thankful for the struggles—the days when the rhyme won’t rhyme, the melody won’t lift, and the doubt feels louder than the inspiration. Those days shape us. They sharpen our craft and teach us resilience.

If the journey were easy, the songs wouldn’t mean as much.
