I want to start by wishing each of you a Happy New Year. Clay and I are grateful for each one of you and we’ve been privileged to get to know some new songwriting friends this year through SongTown. We songwriters are a special breed and it’s fun to have a place for our tribe to congregate.
This year, we have seen 4 of our members get songwriting staff-writer deals. Others have had singles released or have gotten major label cuts. One SongTown member even got a cut on an album with a major label artist that I wrote WITH and didn’t get a cut on her record.
We’ve been proud to see so many of you improve your writing and reach for your goals. Just being around people who are dreamers and dream chasers is inspiring.
Clay and I have been working hard to give you as many “real-world” opportunities in 2017 as we can, and we’ve got some exciting things planned. Many of you have already started applying for our Master Classes that begin later this month and we’re always excited to really dig in deep with people and help them improve lyrically or melodically.
We want to challenge all of you to plan ways to improve your writing this year, whether it’s taking classes, reading blogs, watching videos, reading books, or just writing more. Growth and improvement don’t happen by accident. We hope we can be a part of the journey of growth with you again in 2017.
Happy New Year! May this be the best year of your writing life!
