Join us for the first ever SongTown "Cut Above" Online Songwriting Course...
We all know those songs that are not your typical “hit songs” …rather, they are those hit-you-in-the-heart, standout tunes that are a cut above.
In this class, we'll challenge you to write a song worthy of a "Song of The Year" title—one that's been bestowed on many of the greatest songs of all time.
Each week in class, we will dissect an actual "Song of The Year" lyrically and melodically. You'll learn what made each song stand out above all of the other songs that year. You'll gain necessary tools to add to your own songwriting toolbox to level up your writing.
We will encourage you to co-write in teams of 3, but it's NOT REQUIRED! We have members whose schedules don't allow it and others who like to write solo. So if that's you, this course will still be the same leveling-up experience!
If you are up for co-writing, you can choose your team members (each person must be registered for the class) or we can randomly assign you if you'd like!

- Techniques that make a melody a Song of The Year contender
- Different types of emotions that Songs of The Year evoke
- How to look for ideas/titles/grooves that could be Song of The Year
- How to "raise" the bar on your own writing by studying great songs
